Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm hoping to get some help with a medical question. Can someone please explain to me what a myxoma is? I've heard some people talk about it, but I'm not sure what it is exactly. Is it a type of tumor, or something else? I've looked around online and I'm still not sure what it means. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Myxoma is a type of tumor that typically develops in the heart. It is a type of benign (non-cancerous) tumor made up of soft, spongy tissue called myxomatous tissue. Myxoma tumors may develop in one of the four chambers of the heart, and can interfere with the normal functioning of the heart. Symptoms of myxoma can include chest pain, fatigue, fainting, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations. Treatment usually involves surgically removing the tumor.
