MS stands for multiple sclerosis, a chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the body's central nervous system. It is a neurological condition that causes the body's immune system to attack the myelin sheath, which is a protective layer that covers nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This attack disrupts communication between the brain and other parts of the body, leading to a wide range of symptoms, including vision problems, muscle weakness, difficulty with coordination and balance, fatigue, cognitive problems, and depression. There is currently no cure for MS, but a variety of treatments can help manage symptoms and slow the progression of the disease.
