Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping to get help from some of you. I recently heard about LDH in relation to anemia and I'm curious to know what it means. Could anyone explain to me what LDH stands for and how it is related to anemia? Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

LDH stands for Lactate Dehydrogenase, an enzyme that is found in red blood cells. It is used as a marker of the severity of anemia, as its levels are increased when the number of red blood cells decreases. Anemia is a condition in which the body does not produce enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to the body's tissues. LDH levels can be measured with a simple blood test. A high LDH level indicates a more severe form of anemia.
