What does it mean when you're not social

I'm really hoping I can get some help with this. I'm wondering what it means when you're not social. Does it mean you don't interact with people? Does it mean you don't like going out or meeting new people? Or is there something else to it? I'm really curious about this and would really appreciate some advice from others who have experienced this or know more about it.
