The most common symptoms of facial nerve disorder include: loss of facial expressions, drooping of the face, inability to close the eyelids, difficulty in speaking, and difficulty in eating. Other symptoms include excessive tearing, drooling, facial pain, and hearing loss.

Causes of Facial Nerve Disorder

The exact cause of facial nerve disorder is often unknown. However, there are some known causes, including infections, trauma, tumors, stroke, and genetic conditions. In some cases, the cause may be unknown.

Treatment of Facial Nerve Disorder

Treatment for facial nerve disorder will depend on the underlying cause. In some cases, treatment may include medications to help reduce inflammation and pain. Surgery may also be an option for some types of facial nerve disorder. In other cases, treatment may include physical therapy and/or speech therapy.
