What does benign tumor mean

I'm hoping someone here can help me understand what a benign tumor is. I've heard the term but I'm not sure what it means. Is it something serious or is it something that can be easily treated? Are there any treatments available for benign tumors? Are they always present in the body or can they just form suddenly? I'd really appreciate any insight or advice that anyone here can offer me about benign tumors.

Benign tumor is a type of tumor that is not cancerous and does not spread to other parts of the body. It is usually composed of cells that are normal in appearance and growth, and it does not invade surrounding tissues or spread to other sites in the body. Benign tumors are usually curable with surgical removal, and do not require additional treatment. However, some benign tumors can become malignant, or cancerous, over time.
