What does a benign tumor mean

I'm a bit confused about what a benign tumor means and was hoping to get some help from other forum users who may have more knowledge about it. Is a benign tumor something that can be dangerous or is it something that is harmless? What kind of symptoms might someone experience if they have a benign tumor? Is there any way to prevent them? I'm looking for more information and would appreciate any help or advice that other forum users may have.

Benign Tumor: Definition

A benign tumor is a mass of cells that is not cancerous. It does not invade nearby tissues or spread to other parts of the body the way cancer can. Benign tumors are typically harmless and can often be removed with surgery.

Symptoms

Benign tumors may cause symptoms depending on their size and location. Common signs and symptoms of benign tumors include:

• Pain
• Pressure on nearby organs
• Changes in bladder or bowel function
• Unusual bleeding

Diagnosis

Benign tumors may be detected during routine medical examinations or imaging tests such as X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds. To confirm the diagnosis, a biopsy may be needed.

Treatment

Benign tumors do not always require treatment. In some cases, observation and periodic imaging tests may be recommended to monitor the tumor. If necessary, the tumor can be removed with surgery. In some cases, medications may be used to shrink the tumor before surgery.
