I need some help! I recently experienced a bad fall that resulted in an injury to my jawbone. I'm looking for advice on what doctor I should go to for this injury. Does anyone have any experience with jawbone injuries or know a specialist that I should visit? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm not sure where to start.

If you have an issue with your jaw bone, it is important to find a doctor who specializes in this area. Depending on the seriousness of your condition, you may need to visit an oral surgeon, a maxillofacial surgeon, or an orthodontist. Each type of doctor has their own specialties and expertise, so it is important to understand who is best suited to treat your condition.

Oral Surgeon

An oral surgeon specializes in the diagnosis, surgical, and related treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the head, mouth, teeth, gums, jaws, and neck. They are trained to perform surgeries on the mouth, face, and jaws, and they are the most qualified to treat any issues with the jaw bone.

Maxillofacial Surgeon

A maxillofacial surgeon is a doctor who specializes in treating injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws, and the hard and soft tissues of the mouth. They are trained to perform complex surgeries, such as reconstructive surgery and facial trauma surgery. They are usually the best option if you have an issue with the jaw bone that requires a more complicated procedure.

Orthodontist

An orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in diagnosing and treating dental and facial irregularities. They are trained to treat misaligned teeth and jaws, and they can help with issues such as an overbite or an underbite. If your jaw bone issue is related to the alignment of your teeth or jaws, an orthodontist may be the best choice.

In conclusion, it is important to find a doctor who is best suited to treat your jaw bone issue. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may need to visit an oral surgeon, a maxillofacial surgeon, or an orthodontist. Make sure to do your research and find the doctor who is best qualified to help you.
