What confirms acute pancreatitis

I'm looking for help with understanding what confirms acute pancreatitis. I recently had a CT scan and my doctor said that I may have acute pancreatitis. I'm trying to understand what other tests or diagnostics are used to confirm this diagnosis. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Diagnostic Tests for Acute Pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis is typically diagnosed through a combination of tests that can confirm the presence and severity of the condition. These tests may include:

Blood tests: Blood tests can be used to measure the levels of enzymes and proteins released into the blood when the pancreas is inflamed. High levels of these enzymes and proteins are indicative of acute pancreatitis.

Imaging tests: Imaging tests such as CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds can be used to detect inflammation and other signs of pancreatitis.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP): This procedure involves inserting a small camera through the mouth and into the pancreas. It can be used to identify blockages in the pancreas that may be causing acute pancreatitis.

Laparoscopy: This procedure involves inserting a small camera through a small incision in the abdomen to look for signs of pancreatitis.

Biopsy: A biopsy is a procedure that involves removing a small sample of tissue from the pancreas, which can then be analyzed in a laboratory to confirm the presence of pancreatitis.
