Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for help understanding autism spectrum disorder (ASD). From what I understand, there are two core symptoms associated with ASD - social communication difficulties and restricted/repetitive behaviors. I was wondering if anyone with experience in this area could provide more information on these symptoms and how they affect people with ASD? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Core Symptoms of ASD

The two core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are difficulty with social communication and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities.

Social Communication

People with ASD may have difficulty with social communication and interaction. This may include difficulty in initiating and maintaining conversations, trouble understanding social cues, and difficulty forming relationships with peers.

Restricted, Repetitive Patterns of Behavior, Interests, or Activities

People with ASD often have restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. These may include repetitive body movements such as hand-flapping or rocking, repeating certain words or phrases, or fixating on certain objects or topics.

The two core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are difficulties in social communication and interaction, as well as restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. These can manifest in various ways, such as difficulty understanding and responding to social cues, challenges with making and maintaining friendships, and an inflexible adherence to routines. Other related difficulties can include difficulty interpreting facial expressions, difficulty understanding and using language, difficulties with nonverbal communication, and difficulty adapting to changes in routine.

The two core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are impaired social communication and interaction, and restrictive and repetitive behaviors. People with autism may find it difficult to interpret body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice, and may struggle to form meaningful relationships and interact with others. They may also display unusual and repetitive behaviors, such as repeating certain words or phrases, or engaging in repetitive physical movements. It is important to note that autism is a spectrum disorder, and the severity of symptoms can vary greatly from person to person.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. Common symptoms of ASD include difficulty with social interactions, difficulty with verbal and nonverbal communication, repetitive behaviors, and sensory issues.

The two core symptoms of ASD are difficulty with social interactions and difficulty with verbal and nonverbal communication. People with ASD often have difficulty understanding the social cues of others, such as facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice. They may also have difficulty initiating and maintaining conversations and engaging in reciprocal social interactions. In addition, people with ASD may have difficulty understanding verbal language and expressing themselves verbally, which can lead to communication breakdowns. They may also have difficulty expressing themselves nonverbally, which can make it hard for them to understand others’ nonverbal cues.

Other symptoms of ASD include repetitive behaviors, such as hand-flapping, rocking, and spinning, as well as sensory issues, such as difficulty tolerating loud noises or bright lights. While these symptoms are not considered core symptoms of ASD, they are common and can have a significant impact on people’s lives.
