Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice from other users on this forum about the first warning signs of asthma. I have a family member who has recently been diagnosed, but I'm unsure of what to look for in terms of early warning signs. Is there anyone out there who has experience with asthma who could help me understand the early signs and symptoms? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms of Asthma

The symptoms of asthma can vary from person to person. The most common symptom is difficulty breathing, which may include wheezing, coughing, and tightness in the chest. Other warning signs of asthma may include:

Shortness of breath: This may include difficulty breathing, labored breathing, or a feeling of tightness in the chest.

Wheezing: Wheezing is a whistling sound made when breathing, usually on the exhale.

Chest tightness: A feeling of tightness in the chest, which can be a sign of an asthma attack.

Coughing: This is usually a dry cough, but may also be accompanied by mucus.

Fatigue: Feeling tired and having difficulty doing everyday activities can be a warning sign of asthma.

Difficulty exercising: Difficulty breathing or wheezing during exercise can be a warning sign of asthma.

Sensitivity to allergens: Those with asthma may be more sensitive to allergens such as dust, pollen, and pet dander.

Mood changes: A person with asthma may become irritable, anxious, or depressed due to difficulty breathing.

The first warning signs of asthma can vary from person to person, but may include shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, coughing, and difficulty sleeping due to coughing. Asthma symptoms can be worse at night or during exercise, and may be triggered by exposure to allergens, cold air, or strong odors. If you experience any of these symptoms, make sure to talk to your doctor about whether you may have asthma.

The first warning signs of asthma can vary from person to person, but typically include shortness of breath, chest tightness, coughing, and wheezing. These symptoms may come and go, but if they become more frequent or severe, it is important to seek medical attention.

Shortness of breath is one of the most common signs of asthma. It may feel like you can’t take a deep breath and you may feel like you’re working harder to breathe than usual.

Chest tightness is another common sign of asthma. People may feel like their chest is heavy, or like they are having trouble taking a deep breath.

Coughing is also a common warning sign of asthma. This may be a dry cough, or a wet cough with mucus. Coughing may be worse at night or early in the morning.

Wheezing is another common sign of asthma. This is a whistling sound that may be heard when someone is breathing. It is caused by narrowed airways and is often worse when breathing out.

Other warning signs of asthma may include a feeling of tiredness or fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and difficulty exercising. If any of these warning signs become more frequent or more severe, it is important to seek medical attention. Your doctor can help you determine if asthma is the cause of your symptoms and can provide you with the appropriate treatment.
