Hi everyone! I'm curious to know about the different types of variability in CTG. I'm not sure what all of them are, or how they work, so I'm looking for some help. Could someone explain the different types of variability in CTG and how they work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Baseline Variability
Baseline variability is a type of variability that can be observed in CTG recordings and is characterized by fluctuations in the baseline of the fetal heart rate. Baseline variability is an indication of the fetal autonomic nervous system's ability to respond to various stimuli and can be used to assess fetal well-being.

Accelerations
Accelerations are increases in the fetal heart rate that last for at least 15 seconds. These are usually indicative of a normal fetal heart rate and can indicate a healthy fetus.

Decelerations
Decelerations are decreases in the fetal heart rate that last for at least 15 seconds. These are usually indicative of a compromised fetal heart rate and can indicate a compromised fetus.

Repeated Accelerations
Repeated accelerations are multiple repeated accelerations that occur within a short period of time. These can indicate a healthy fetus but can also be indicative of fetal distress.

Late Decelerations
Late decelerations are decreases in the fetal heart rate that occur after a contraction in the mother's uterus. These can indicate a compromised fetus and can be a sign of fetal distress.
