Introduction
Coma is a state of unconsciousness caused by severe physical or mental trauma. It is a medical emergency that requires immediate medical attention. Coma can be divided into three stages: mild, moderate, and deep. The severity of a coma is determined by the degree of impairment and the duration of unconsciousness.
Mild Coma
Mild coma is the first stage of coma. The patient is still conscious, but may be unresponsive to verbal or sensory stimulation. They may be able to make some voluntary movements, but may not be able to respond to commands. They may be able to open their eyes and may be able to blink in response to pain.
Moderate Coma
Moderate coma is the second stage of coma. The patient is unconscious but may be able to make some purposeful movements in response to painful stimuli. They may be able to open their eyes, but are not able to respond to verbal commands.
Deep Coma
Deep coma is the third and final stage of coma. The patient is completely unconscious and unresponsive to any type of stimulation. They may be able to open their eyes, but are not able to respond to verbal commands. No purposeful movements are possible.
