Is H2S a chemical asphyxiant

I'm looking for some help understanding H2S and its potential as a chemical asphyxiant. I've heard it can be dangerous, especially in enclosed spaces, but I'm not sure if it's classified as a chemical asphyxiant. Does anyone have any information or experience with this that they can share? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) is a colorless, highly toxic gas with a characteristic "rotten egg" smell. It is classified as a chemical asphyxiant, meaning it can cause death by asphyxiation. It is typically found in places such as sewers, sewagetreatment plants, oil refineries, and other areas that have higher levels of sulfur compounds.

Asphyxiant
An asphyxiant is a gas or other substance that can cause death by suffocation or by reducing the oxygen concentration in the air. This can happen when breathing air that contains too little oxygen, or when breathing air that contains too much of another gas, such as carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulfide.
