"Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping to get some help. I recently had a fistula surgery and I'm not sure if it should feel hard or soft? I was told it should be soft to the touch, but it seems a bit hard to me.

Fistulas can be both hard and soft.

Hard Fistulas

A hard fistula is a type of tunneling wound that is usually caused by surgery, radiation, trauma, or infection. It is characterized by a tunnel-like opening in the skin that connects two parts of the body, such as the skin and underlying tissue. Hard fistulas can be painful and can require surgery for closure.

Radiation can cause hard fistulas due to its effects on the tissue. Radiation damages the tissue, which can lead to inflammation and scarring. This can cause the tissue to become thick and hard, which can create a tunnel-like opening on the skin.

Trauma can also cause hard fistulas. This can occur due to a cut, burn, or other injury to the skin. This can cause the tissue to become thick and hard, which can create a tunnel-like opening on the skin.

Soft Fistulas

A soft fistula is a type of tunneling wound that is usually caused by a condition known as a sinus. It is characterized by an opening in the skin that connects two parts of the body, such as the skin and underlying tissue. Soft fistulas can be painful and can require surgery for closure.

Sinus can cause soft fistulas due to its effects on the tissue. Sinus is an infection of the soft tissue that can lead to inflammation and scarring. This can cause the tissue to become thin and soft, which can create a tunnel-like opening on the skin.

Inflammation can also cause soft fistulas. This can occur due to an infection or irritation of the skin. This can cause the tissue to become thin and soft, which can create a tunnel-like opening on the skin.

A fistula is a connection between two body structures that is not normally present. It can be either hard or soft, depending on the type of fistula and the underlying cause. Hard fistulas typically involve an abnormal connection between two bones, while soft fistulas are usually caused by infection and involve an abnormal connection between two soft tissues. In either case, fistulas can cause discomfort and other symptoms and should be treated promptly.

A fistula is a small tunnel that connects two body parts, such as two organs or an organ and the skin. It is usually created by surgery to treat an illness, such as cancer. The fistula itself may be made up of either hard or soft tissue, depending on its purpose and the type of surgery used to create it. Generally, fistulas created for medical purposes are soft, as they are meant to be flexible and allow for drainage or other treatments.

Fistula can be both hard and soft depending on the type of fistula and the underlying underlying cause. Generally, a fistula is a pathological passageway between two organs or vessels, or a passageway between an organ and the outside world. Depending on the cause, some fistulas can be hard and thick, while others can be soft and thin. For example, an abscess can lead to a hard and thick fistula, whereas a tear or trauma can cause a soft and thin fistula. Therefore, the type and cause of a fistula determine if it is hard or soft.
