Is death by nitrogen hypoxia painful

I'm hoping to get some help understanding if death by nitrogen hypoxia is painful or not. I've heard that it's a peaceful way to die, but I'm not sure if that means it's painless or if there's any discomfort involved. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Nitrogen Hypoxia:
Nitrogen hypoxia is a type of hypoxia (oxygen deficiency) caused by the inhalation of nitrogen-rich air, which is an inert gas. The inhalation of nitrogen-rich air causes a decrease in the amount of oxygen in the body, which can lead to death due to a lack of oxygen.

Pain of Death by Nitrogen Hypoxia
The question of whether death by nitrogen hypoxia is painful is a difficult one to answer definitively, as there is no definitive answer. Some studies suggest that nitrogen hypoxia may cause some degree of pain, while others suggest that it does not. However, it is generally accepted that nitrogen hypoxia is very quick and painless, as it causes a rapid loss of consciousness, followed by death. In some cases, the person may experience some physical sensations such as nausea, dizziness, and lightheadedness before passing out.
