Bronchitis: Overview
Bronchitis is a common respiratory condition in which the bronchial tubes become inflamed and irritated. It can be acute or chronic, and can be caused by a variety of factors including viral infections, bacteria, and environmental irritants. Symptoms of bronchitis include a cough with mucus, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and fatigue.
Is Bronchitis a Big Deal?
The answer to this question depends on the severity of the bronchitis. Acute bronchitis is usually a minor illness that can be treated with rest, plenty of fluids, and over-the-counter medications. Chronic bronchitis, however, is a more serious condition and can lead to more serious complications if left untreated. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of bronchitis, it is important to see your doctor as soon as possible.
