The best way to survive working for a sociopath is to remain professional and stay away from any form of office gossip or drama. Keep your head down and be aware of your environment, as sociopaths tend to be manipulative and volatile. Try to build relationships with co-workers who are not in the sociopath's inner circle; they are more likely to be understanding and supportive. Avoid making any decisions without consulting your manager first, and document anything that may be relevant for future reference. Remain calm and patient, and focus on your work. Don't allow yourself to be taken advantage of or bullied. Taking care of your mental health is essential, and it is okay to seek help if needed.

Question: What do I do if my boss is a sociopath?

If your boss is a sociopath, the best thing to do is to try to keep a professional distance. Avoid conversations with them outside of work-related matters and try to limit contact as much as possible. Remain calm and professional in all interactions, and don't let yourself be provoked by any kind of manipulation. Document any incidents carefully and keep a record of conversations, emails, and messages. If the situation becomes unbearable, consider speaking to Human Resources about your concerns and look into legal options for protection.
