Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm hoping to get some advice. I have a question about allergies - how old do they start? I'm a bit worried because my two year old seems to be sneezing a lot and I'm not sure if it's just a cold or allergies.

Allergies can start at any age, but they are most common in children. Allergy symptoms vary, but typically include sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and a runny nose. The most common allergies are to food, pollen, and pet dander.

Allergy Symptoms

Allergy symptoms vary depending on the type of allergy. Common symptoms include sneezing, coughing, itching, watery eyes, and a runny nose. Other symptoms can include wheezing, hives, rash, and difficulty breathing.

Common Allergies

The most common allergies are to food, pollen, and pet dander. Food allergies can cause anaphylaxis, a life-threatening reaction that requires immediate medical attention. Pollen allergies are seasonal allergies that cause symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose. Pet dander allergies are caused by the tiny particles of skin and fur that pets shed.

Diagnosing Allergies

If you think you have an allergy, it is best to see a doctor. The doctor may order allergy tests to determine the cause of your symptoms. Allergy tests may include skin tests, blood tests, or elimination diets.

Treating Allergies

The best way to treat allergies is to avoid the allergen that is causing the reaction. If avoidance is not possible, medications can be used to reduce symptoms. Antihistamines, nasal sprays, and decongestants can be used to relieve allergy symptoms. In some cases, allergy shots may be recommended to help reduce the body's response to the allergen.

Allergies can start in childhood, but they can also develop later in life. Generally, the onset of allergies is thought to be due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. An infant’s first exposure to an allergen may be through food, such as cow’s milk, eggs, or wheat. Allergies to inhalants, such as pollen, dust mites, and pet dander, usually begin in childhood or early adulthood. Some people may even develop allergies to medications, such as antibiotics, or insect stings. Symptoms of allergies can range from mild to severe, and can include sneezing, congestion, hives, itching, and difficulty breathing.

Answer: Allergies can develop at any age, although they are more likely to start during childhood. Allergies can be caused by environment, genetics, or a combination of the two. Allergies can also develop later in life, even after years of not having any symptoms. Symptoms of allergies can range from mild to severe, and can include sneezing, itchy eyes, nasal congestion, and difficulty breathing. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to seek medical advice to determine if you have allergies.
