What is Dizziness?
Dizziness is a feeling of lightheadedness, unsteadiness, or a sensation of spinning. It is a common symptom that can be caused by a variety of different conditions. It can be caused by inner ear problems, medication side effects, dehydration, or low blood pressure.
When to See a Doctor
Most cases of dizziness are not serious and will go away on their own. However, if the dizziness lasts more than a few days or is accompanied by other symptoms, it is best to see a doctor. Other symptoms that should warrant a visit to the doctor include fainting, nausea, vomiting, vision changes, and hearing loss.
Treatment for Dizziness
Treatment for dizziness will depend on the underlying cause. If the dizziness is related to medications, the doctor may suggest changing the dosage or switching to a different medication. If the dizziness is caused by low blood pressure, the doctor may suggest increasing salt intake or drinking more fluids. In more serious cases, medications or physical therapy may be recommended.
