Appendix pain can vary greatly from person to person, but generally speaking, appendix pain can last for days or weeks before it bursts. In some cases, the pain can begin suddenly and be severe. This is often referred to as “acute” appendicitis. Other times, the pain may be mild and develop slowly over a period of days.
Typically, the pain will start near the navel and then move to the lower right side of the abdomen. It may also be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, a fever, and difficulty passing gas. If the appendix bursts, it can cause severe pain, typically in the right lower side of the abdomen.
It is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible if you are experiencing pain that could be appendix related. If left untreated, an inflamed appendix can rupture and cause a potentially dangerous infection. If you are experiencing any type of abdominal pain, it is important to speak with a medical professional.
