Checking Responsiveness
When turning an unconscious person over, it is important to first check for responsiveness. Make sure that the person is not responding to verbal cues or physical stimuli. If the person is unresponsive, then proceed with turning them over.
Positioning Yourself and the Person
Before turning the person over, make sure you are in a safe position to do so. Place your hands on the person's shoulders and hips, then try to get a good grip. Make sure that the person is secure and that their head is supported.
Turning the Person Over
Once you have a good grip, slowly roll the person onto their side. Make sure to support their head and neck during the process. If possible, place a pillow or rolled up towel under the person's head and neck to prevent injury. It is also important to support their upper body so that they do not roll back onto their back.
Monitoring the Person
Once the person is on their side, check to make sure that they are still breathing and that their airway is clear. Monitor the person for any changes in their condition and provide medical assistance as needed.
