Eye Care Tips
The most important thing you can do to protect your eyes from too much screen time is to take regular breaks. Allowing your eyes to rest for a few minutes every hour or so can help reduce strain and fatigue. During your breaks, try to look away from the screen and focus on something in the distance. This is known as the 20-20-20 rule: look away from the computer for 20 seconds, focus on something 20 feet away, and repeat every 20 minutes.
Nutrition for Eye Health
Eating a healthy diet can also help protect your eyes from the effects of too much screen time. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, walnuts, and flaxseed, as well as dark leafy greens like spinach and kale, are all beneficial for your eyes. Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as zinc, are also important for eye health.
Exercise for Eye Health
Regular exercise can help improve your eyesight and reduce the strain on your eyes from too much screen time. Try to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week. Yoga poses like the Downward Facing Dog and the Cat/Cow stretches can help relax the eye muscles and relieve eye strain.
Lighting for Eye Health
Adjusting your computer's lighting can also help reduce eye strain. Make sure your room is well lit, and use a glare filter on your computer screen. This will help reduce the amount of blue light your eyes are exposed to and reduce the strain on your eyes from screen time.
