Can you still feel pain when in a coma

I was recently researching about people in a coma and was wondering if they can still feel pain. I had heard that some people can, but I wanted to find out if this is true. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this topic? Can you still feel pain when in a coma? I would really appreciate any help or advice from other forum users.

What is a Coma?

A coma is a state of unconsciousness where a person cannot be awakened, responds inappropriately to stimuli, or does not respond at all. It can last a few days to several weeks or even months. During this time, the person is alive but in an unconscious state.

Can You Feel Pain in a Coma?

The short answer is yes, people in a coma can still feel pain. This is because the brain and nerve cells continue to function, even when a person is in a coma. The brain can still send signals to other parts of the body, so physical pain can still be felt. However, the person in the coma will not be able to respond or show any visible signs of pain. It is also possible for people in a coma to experience emotional pain, such as feeling sadness or fear.
