Can you detect the odor of carbon monoxide

I've been trying to learn more about carbon monoxide and I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with detecting its odor. I know that some people are able to detect it but I'm unsure of how strong the odor is or if there are any other indicators that it's present. Can anyone provide some insight on this topic? I'd really appreciate any advice or tips that you may have.

Carbon Monoxide: What Is It and How Can You Detect It?

What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is produced when organic material is burned without sufficient oxygen. It is usually found in very small amounts in the air we breathe, but when concentrations become too high, it can be very dangerous.

Why Is Carbon Monoxide Dangerous?

Carbon monoxide is dangerous because it binds to hemoglobin in the bloodstream, preventing oxygen from getting to cells and organs. This can lead to significant health effects, including nausea, headaches, dizziness, confusion, and in extreme cases, death.

How Can Carbon Monoxide Be Detected?

The only way to detect carbon monoxide is to use an electronic device known as a carbon monoxide detector. These devices are designed to alert you when concentrations of carbon monoxide become too high. Carbon monoxide detectors should be installed in all homes and businesses to help keep occupants safe from this potentially deadly gas.
