Can someone in a vegetative state see you

I'm looking for some help understanding if someone in a vegetative state can see or sense someone in the same room. I know that people in a vegetative state can't respond to stimulation, but can they still see what is going on around them? If they can, what kind of things might they be able to perceive? Are there any studies or research that have been done on this subject that might shed some light on the situation? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is Vegetative State?
A vegetative state is a medical disorder in which an individual is awake but lacks awareness and responsiveness to their environment. The person may seem to be unconscious, unaware, or unresponsive to stimuli, such as sound, light, and touch.

Can Someone in a Vegetative State See You?
It is unclear whether someone in a vegetative state can see you. Some research suggests that individuals in a vegetative state may be able to process visual information, but they lack the ability to respond to or engage with what they see. However, the extent to which a person in a vegetative state is able to process visual information is not well understood. Some experts believe that individuals in a vegetative state may be aware of their environment to some degree, while others believe that they may be completely unaware.
