"Hello everyone, I'm hoping to get some help with a question I have. I recently had blood work done and my AST level was elevated. Is it possible for AST to be temporarily elevated, or is it indicative of a more serious underlying health issue? I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences anyone has had with AST levels.

Yes, AST levels can be temporarily elevated. However, it is important to remember that AST levels can increase for a variety of reasons. It is important to consult a doctor if AST levels are elevated as this may be a sign of a serious underlying medical condition.

Causes of Elevated AST Levels

There are a number of potential causes for elevated AST levels, including:

- Alcoholism
- Liver damage
- Heart damage
- Pancreas problems
- Muscular dystrophy
- Mononucleosis
- Infections
- Certain medications

Diagnosis and Treatment

If AST levels are elevated, it is important to visit a doctor to determine the underlying cause. Depending on the cause, the doctor may recommend lifestyle changes, medication, or other treatments. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions in order to ensure that AST levels return to normal as soon as possible.
