Can an autoimmune disease also be a type of cancer

I'm really confused about whether an autoimmune disease can also be a type of cancer. I've done a lot of research online, but I'm still not certain. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this topic? I'm really hoping to get some help and advice from other forum users.

Yes, an autoimmune disease can also be a type of cancer. This is known as an autoimmune-related cancer, and it occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, causing them to become malignant. These cancers often have very aggressive behavior and can be difficult to treat. Examples of autoimmune-related cancers include lupus-associated lymphoma, scleroderma-associated lymphoma, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis-associated thyroid cancer.

It is possible for an autoimmune disease to present with some of the same symptoms as cancer, such as fatigue, weight loss, and fever. However, they are two distinct conditions and cannot be classified as the same thing. Autoimmune diseases are caused when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, while cancer is caused by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. Autoimmune diseases are typically treated with medications that suppress the immune system, while cancer is treated with a combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Therefore, while the two conditions may share certain symptoms, they are distinct and should not be classified as the same thing.

Yes, an autoimmune disease can also be a type of cancer. Autoimmune diseases are caused by the body's immune system mistakenly attacking healthy cells, while cancer occurs when abnormal cells multiply and spread in the body. In some cases, the body's immune system can attack cancer cells as if they were healthy cells, leading to an autoimmune cancer.
