Can a child have a UTI without fever

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with a child having a urinary tract infection (UTI) without having a fever. My son is experiencing pain when he urinates, but he has no fever. Could this still be a UTI, or could it be something else? I'm trying to figure out what the best course of action is, and I need help. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their child? If so, what did you do? What were the results? Any advice or information would be much appreciated.

Can a Child Have a UTI Without Fever?

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common problem in children, and many times they present with a fever. However, it is possible for a child to have a UTI without a fever.

Symptoms of UTI Without Fever

Though a fever is a common symptom of a UTI, there are other symptoms to look out for. These include frequent and painful urination, a burning sensation when urinating, bedwetting in children who have been potty trained, and pain in the lower abdomen. Urine may also appear cloudy or have a strong smell.

Diagnosis of UTI Without Fever

If you suspect your child has a UTI without a fever, it is important to seek medical attention. A doctor may order a urine test to diagnose a UTI. This test will look for the presence of bacteria in the urine. If the test is positive, the doctor can prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection.

Preventing UTIs in Children

There are some steps you can take to help reduce the risk of your child developing a UTI. These include making sure your child is drinking plenty of fluids, teaching them to wipe front to back after using the restroom, and making sure they are washing their hands regularly. Additionally, if your child is prone to UTIs, talk to your doctor about preventative measures such as antibiotics.

In conclusion, it is possible for a child to have a UTI without a fever. It is important to be aware of the other symptoms of a UTI and to seek medical attention if you suspect your child has a UTI.
