Can a candle burn in nitrogen

I'm curious to know if a candle can burn in nitrogen. I've heard that it can't, but I'd love to get some more information on this from people who might know more. Does anyone have any experience with this or know of any resources that might help me better understand the topic? Any advice or knowledge is much appreciated.
