"I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I've been researching psychopaths and I'm wondering - are they always sad? I know that psychopathy is a mental disorder, and I know that it can be linked to some emotional instability, but I'm not sure if that means they always experience sadness or depression.

No, psychopaths are not always sad. Psychopathy is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of empathy and sense of guilt, and a disregard for social norms. Psychopaths may experience a range of emotions, but they often lack the sense of remorse or sadness that most people feel when they do something wrong. Instead, they tend to be emotionally detached from their actions and lack the ability to empathize with those affected by their behavior.

"Do psychopaths always lack empathy?"

No, not all psychopaths necessarily lack empathy. While some psychopaths may be entirely lacking in empathy, it is possible for psychopaths to still possess some degree of empathy, depending on the individual. Empathy is a complex trait, and while some psychopaths may be completely devoid of it, others may still possess some level of empathy, even if it's limited.
