"What are some theories about why the Mayan civilization collapsed?"

One of the leading theories about the collapse of the Mayan civilization is that their population grew too large for the resources available to them, leading to famine, disease, and civil unrest. Additionally, there is evidence that the Mayans exhausted their resources through deforestation, which resulted in a lack of food and other resources. Finally, the Mayans may have been weakened due to a series of droughts, which further disrupted their ability to sustain their population and resources. All of these theories lead to the conclusion that the collapse of the Mayan civilization was likely due to a combination of environmental and social forces.

The Mayan civilization was highly advanced in mathematics. Evidence of their achievements includes the discovery of a Mayan number system based on the concept of zero, the development of a calendar system and the calculation of time cycles, the use of the Long Count calendar to track more than 5,000 years of history, and the use of advanced mathematics to calculate the movements of the sun, moon, and planets. Additionally, the Mayans developed an incredibly complex system of mathematics and geometry to construct their pyramids and temples, as well as to study perfections in the form of ratios and proportions.
