Islam is one of the major monotheistic religions in the world, and Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is a major figure in the faith. Muslims believe that Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) will return to Earth in the End Times to bring about a new era of justice and peace. While details about his return remain unclear, Muslims generally believe that this event will be preceded by a period of chaos and destruction.
The Belief in the Return of Prophet Jesus
The Quran, the holy book of Islam, states that Prophet Jesus will return to Earth at the end of time. This belief is based on several verses in the Quran, including Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:117, which reads: “And [mention] when Allah will say, ‘O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?’ He will say, ‘Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.’”
The concept of the return of Prophet Jesus is also supported by hadith (sayings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad) and Islamic scholars. The Prophet Muhammad is believed to have said, “The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler; he will break the cross, kill the pig and abolish the Jizya” (Tax on non-Muslims).
The Signs of the Return of Prophet Jesus
Muslims believe that Prophet Jesus will return to Earth in the End Times, but there is no clear agreement on when this event will take place. However, there are certain conditions and signs that are believed to precede the return of Prophet Jesus. These signs include:
• The emergence of a false messiah, known as the Dajjal, who will attempt to lead people astray.
• The emergence of the beast of the earth, which will be a large animal that will emerge from the earth.
• A major war between the followers of Prophet Jesus and the Dajjal.
• An appearance of Gog and Magog, a powerful nation that will cause chaos and destruction.
• A fire that will emerge from the Yemen and spread throughout the world.
The Role of Prophet Jesus in the End Times
Muslims believe that when Prophet Jesus returns to Earth, he will bring about a new era of justice and peace. He will break the cross and abolish the jizya, a tax imposed on non-Muslims, and will establish a new system of justice. He will also defeat the Dajjal, the false messiah, and restore peace and justice to the world. Prophet Jesus will also lead the Muslims in prayer and will be a witness to the Day of Judgment.
